Switching to a new currency...

We've been thinking about doing this for a few weeks now. PayPal accepts several different currency types, and about half the items we ship are to European addresses. So, as much as we don't like switching to the Euro, it would make some sense to do it.

The real problem is the dollar. We've totally lost confidence in it. We would be happy with any other currency, preferably one backed by gold. If you understand how our banking system works you would know that the FED is really not owned by the US Government. It is privately held to some extent, and has brought about the current banking crisis so that it can gain super powers over other banks.

The fact that China holds about 5 trillion dollars of our debt and that they are very concerned with the FED's recent move to simply print more money to pay its debts, is very worrisome. The dollar hasn't been backed by gold since Nixon, and today it is simply paper. If oil ceases to be traded in dollars, you will see a total collapse over night. There are many Islamic nations that are pushing for that right now. The best case for the US now will be hyper-inflation, worse than we saw in the late 70's.

I should point out that some might see a switch like this as un-patriotic. But the fact is its just simply business. I can't afford to suffer with hyper inflation at this time. Personally I'm a US Army vet, and I take patriotism issues very seriously. It is the FED that I'm unhappy with, not the US Government - and they are separate entities.

The FED has never been audited. Only Congress can force that. 35% of every congressman's campaign contributions come from the banks. Who owns Congress? Not the people. If the FED prints the money, then they can do what ever they want. They aren't accountable to anyone anymore, as if they ever have been.

We would appreciate your feedback on this topic. We've kicked around several currencies to switch to - the Swiss Franc or Russian Ruple are also good options. Unfortunately the Euro would be the wisest choice based on our current shipment history.
